Editorial : About the Author
Tom is a veteran television journalist and author who's spent the last 20-plus years covering the biggest stories of our time. He's interviewed Presidents, cabinet members, and leaders in congress. He's reported live from the White House and Capitol Hill, Chernobyl, The Canadian Badlands, the barrios of Mexico City, Central America, and the Jungle. Tom's covered five national political conventions. He has flown with presidential candidates, gone backstage at their rallies, and broken stories about them on television and online. He was at the Pentagon while smoke still rose in the hours after 9/11 and was in the room when Secretary Colin Powell made his case to the U.N. Security Council for war against Iraq. Tom lives in the Houston suburbs with his wife, Courtney, and their two children.

HE THOUGHT HE WAS PREPARED. HE THOUGHT HIS FAMILY WAS SAFE. HE WAS WRONG. Five years after a pneumonic plague killed two-thirds of the world’s population, army veteran Marcus Battle is isolated. He’s alone with his guns, his food, and the graves of his wife and child. Unaware of the chaos that’s befallen everything outside of his central Texas ranch land, Marcus lives a Spartan life. If anyone steps onto his property he shoots first and never ask questions. But when a woman in distress, chased by marauders, seeks asylum, Marcus has a decision to make. Does he throw her to the wolves to protect himself or does he help her and leave the shelter and protection of home?

The two 100-question exams at the end of the book are reliable to the state exam questions. If you ask the musicians who pioneered the new acoustic vistas, it is music that employs time, space, and silence as a sonic vehicle to get the listener into closer contact with his/her spiritual nature." (Pg. 1 is the only way to enjoy this manga fully. Yet his impact remains: His fingerprints are all over the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Catholic Church's key encyclical on religious rights, Dignitatis Humanae. It is like putting money in a savings account and letting the interest continue to compound year after year. Macmurray ended life as an active Quaker.

There is a growing critical literature on Macmurray, for example, Esther McIntosh's John Macmurray's Religious Philosophy (2011). I knew next to nothing about PowerPoint before I began studying this book. With every issue, this Shaver Mystery zine increased in size, and the stories kept on coming.
