The view that slavery could best be described by those who had themselves experienced it personally has found expression in several thousand commentaries, autobiographies, narratives, and interviews with those who "endured." Although most of these accounts appeared before the Civil War, more than one-third are the result of the ambitious efforts of the Federal Writers' Project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) to interview surviving ex-slaves during the 1930s. The result of these efforts was the Slave Narrative Collection, a group of autobiographical accounts of former slaves that today stands as one of the most enduring and noteworthy achievements of the WPA. The biggest joy is that the authoress takes the Norse myths, which I have always found to be a perplexing bunch of near madness, and renders it all readable. Definitively this book is a must in a CM's personal library. We initially checked out this book from the library, and now we're hoping to get it from my wish list for Xmas. As an example, I am beginning to write 3 books, and will have the first one published on March 7th, which is my birthday, and the second one no more than 7 weeks later.
I have already recommended this book to over a dozen people, including my daughter & best friend, both of whom are going to get & read & follow its instructions creating for themselves (me too) far more productive lives then they have lived up to this point.
