Editorial : About the Author Adolf Deissmann (1866-1937) studied at Tuebingen and Berlin. In 1897 he was appointed to a professorship at Heidelberg where he taught until 1908, when he was called to succeed Bernhard Weiss at Berlin. Deissmann made important contributions to biblical philology and sociology. His research into the papyri remains important for Biblical scholarship today.

Macmurray is an often neglected philosopher. Macmurray ended life as an active Quaker.

There is a growing critical literature on Macmurray, for example, Esther McIntosh's John Macmurray's Religious Philosophy (2011). I haven't officially used this book in class yet, but I did go through it, and i thought ---wow, this is more of an accompaniment book. This is a book for personal finance. I would rate the series 5 stars, but book 2 was not my favorite of the series, the plot moves in too many directions. I love Goodman and Hirsch's textbooks. McMann has made me an addict. A beautiful arrangement. Upon moving into a house with many tenants of diverse personalities, he had the perfect chance to recollect thoughts and concepts.
However, Mailer failed to use the concept effectively. Some amusing tidbits here and there, including Einstein's diet.
